Graphic Filenames & Numbers

Script Elephant will automatically generate a filename for every graphic that includes:

  • A unique identifier, consisting of the production number and that graphic number
  • The graphic type's abbreviation
  • The graphic's name

For example, consider the following graphic:

image

The filename is visible in the top left. In this example, it is [2.12] FS Dr. Evelyn Turner.

  • The 2 refers to the production number this graphic is used in.
  • The 12 refers to the graphic number used by this graphic. This is automatically assigned, but you can manually edit it to be any other un-used number.
  • The FS is the abbreviation for this graphic's type.
  • The Dr. Evelyn Turner is this graphic's name.

The first two numbers combine to make up this graphic's unique identifier. In this case, [2.12].

To take full advantage of Script Elephant's features, you are encouraged to use this full filename throughout your creative production process. The benefits are:

  • This helps ensure you can easily locate these files, from pre-production composition names, through final filenames on playback devices.
  • This helps with clarity when referring to graphics in emails and on show-site: you know that short unique identifier is not used for anything else.
  • This helps ensure that graphics belonging to another production don't accidentally get played in the wrong production.

Finally, when uploading graphic previews, Script Elephant will require your graphic preview filenames to contain their unique identifier, to help ensure those previews are matched to the correct graphic.
